The 46th-anniversary Bentonia Blues Festival will take place on June 11-16, 2018 in Bentonia, Mississippi. This real-deal blues festival is the oldest in the country, started in 1972 by Jimmy "Duck" Holmes. Holmes is the last of the Bentonia bluesmen and the owner of the Blue Front Cafe, the oldest juke joint in Mississippi that is still in daily operation.
Related events leading up to the Bentonia Blues Festival with live music at the Blue Front Cafe take place every evening from June 11-15. HEad to Yazoo County early in the week to enjoy the live performances in this authentic and intimate juke joint setting.
The 2018 Bentonia Blues Festival will take place all day Saturday, June 16, at the Holmes family farm, 313 Wilson-Holmes Road just north of Bentonia, Mississippi on Highway 49 North, just as it did in 1972. The event will feature food and arts & crafts vendors, RV & tent camping (fees may apply), live music, and more.
