Beulah Richardson, actress (Beah Richards)
Born July 12, 1926 in Vicksburg, Beah was a well-known actress with a varied body of work including an outstanding Oscar-nominated performance in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. Last September, shortly before her death, she was awarded an Emmy for work in the TV series The Practice. Because of emphysema, she had left Los Angeles for her hometown of Vicksburg where she was presented with the award.

Willie Dixon, entertainer
He was born as William James Dixon, in Vicksburg, Mississippi in 1915. He was a producer for Chess and Checker Records in Chicago and is considered one of the key figures in the creation of Chicago blues. He worked with Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Led Zeppelin to name a few. Willie Dixon is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and is credited as a crucial link between the blues and rock and roll.
